Molecular Horizons building houses three of the world’s most advanced pieces of scientific equipment in three of the worlds most advanced shielded rooms.  The FEI Titan Krios and FEI Talos Arctica Transmission Electron Microscopes are so sensitive they need to be almost completely isolated from all forms of magnetism and external influences.

EMI Shielding was engaged to provide design consultancy prior to construction and subsequently to construct the passive shielding for these three world class rooms. Through careful building placement along with architectural, structural and electrical design techniques we were able to achieve AC and DC magnetic field strengths of less than 10nanoTesla (nT).

If you’re looking for a capable contractor to manage a really complex job, consider this project a testament to our abilities. We managed to deliver excellent results not once but twice!  Providing two high performance electron microscope rooms and a magnetic materials test lab during base building construction, then returning a few years later to provide retro-fit of a third high performance Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) laboratory. We worked closely with the client to understand their needs and preferences, and the successful outcome speaks for itself.
